Vivienne Westwood for Virgin Atlantic

Guys and girls, here’s a little secret about my past: I worked as a flight attendant for a few years. It was AMAZING! Truly one of the best experiences of my life, and far more sexy and fashionable than I would have ever thought. In this context I am very excited to hear that Virgin Atlantic will be soon takin off in uniforms designed by Vivienne Westwood! Take a look below:

Virgin Atlantic hires none other than Dame Vivienne Westwood to overhaul it’s iconic red staff uniforms thirteen years after they were first introduced.

Westwood planned to capture the glamour and style of the Virgin brand whilst adding a futuristic flare. Not forgetting her eco-friendly mantra, the women’s and men’s uniforms are produced using recycled plastic bottles and worn polyester.

Richard Branson comments: “Virgin Atlantic has a distinct spirit and from a design perspective we continually try to challenge the norm and stand out from the crowd. Our current uniform has been around for more than 10 years and we have seen other airlines start to copy it. When we were choosing the designer for this project, we wanted to work with a group of people who share our spirit of adventure, who believe in challenging the status quo and creating something truly memorable.”

Expect to start seeing the uniforms from this summer ahead of a full roll-out to over 7,500 staff in 2014.
